EMERGENCY INCREASE IN WATER TARIFFS

Notice is herewith given that due to the fact that the Mossel Bay Municipality has been declared a local state of disaster in terms of the Disaster Management Act, 2002 (Act 57 of 2002) and the continued draught conditions in the jurisdiction area of the Mossel Bay Municipality it was resolved unanimously during a Special Council Meeting (Item E3-01/2010) :

That the water tariffs of all consumers for accounts levied in March 2010 (in other words the consumption for February/March) until 30 June 2010 be increased as flows:

TARIFFS  - MARCH TO  JUNE 2010

Domestic consumers with connections up to 25mm

a) Basic Fee per month R86.48 +VAT

b) Metered Consumption

0 kl to 6 kl                                           per kl.                          Free

7 kl to 20 kl                                         per kl                           R3.61+ VAT

21kl to 30 kl                                        per kl                           R7.82 + VAT

31 kl to 40kl                                        per kl                           R9.78 + VAT

That the surcharge on tariffs for water usage greater than 20kl applies to all dwellings zoned as household.

 

That second dwellings be required to follow the prescribed application process before they can be treated as separate units for water tariff purposes.

 

That it be noted that the water tariff increase will only be applicable for the current financial year (2009/2010) ending 30 June 2010.

 

That all measures such as the watering of gardens by means of a bucket within the prescribed times and the re-use of household water by consumers to limit consumption, in order to have the minimum impact on bills for water usage be taken.

 

A copy of the resolution is available for inspection during office hours at the main administrative building of the Municipality, Satellite Offices and Libraries.

 

The co-operation of all users of municipal water is essential and would be greatly appreciated.
