Water consumption has dropped to its lowest level over the past three years in August 2010 when it averaged 12,75 million litres a day for the month compared to 31,9 million litres a day in August 2009 and 25,4 million litres a day in August 2008. A new calibration of the Wolwedans Dam, which the dam’s owner, the Department of Water Affairs, announced last week, showed its level was down to 16,62 per cent instead of 18,5 per cent as advised initially.
