The water situation in Mossel Bay is still extremely serious, but because of a number of factors which include improved availability of water from the Wolwedans Dam and the commissioning of two boreholes, the town’s water supply is now expected to last to January 2011 if it does not rain enough before then and provided the current water savings trends are maintained, says the Municipality in a news release.. The 31 mm rain that fell in the catchment area of the Wolwedans Dam last weekend was again unfortunately insufficient to make much of a difference to the level of the dam. Its level rose by about by about 0,4 per cent, which was equal to 100 megalitres of water and about three to four days of extraction from the dam by PetroSA, farmers and the Municipality. .
